About Me
My life’s work has always been about helping people find peace, in life, in loss, and in the moments that matter most.
I was born into grief; I was five months old when my father was killed by a drunk driver, leaving my mum to raise five young children on her own with little support through this difficult process. Growing up. I experienced firsthand the wider impact that death can have on those left behind and how deeply it shapes us, that we have to navigate a new world without our loved one.
Those early experiences gave me a profound understanding of grief, compassion, and the importance of feeling supported through life’s hardest moments.
From a young age, I felt a deep connection to the spirit world, and this gave me a unique understanding of death, dying and grief.
My life’s path contributed to my passion of helping people to die well, and for their family and friends to have a soft landing into grief, which naturally led me to train in the modality of Reiki for the past 25 years, with a deep calling to serve the community, after many years of being a Reiki practitioner I elevated to Reiki Master. Helping people reconnect with themselves through gentle healing. relaxation, and emotional support. It was through this work that I discovered how powerful calm presence can be for those approaching the end of life.
A conversation over coffee with a dear friend years ago, she mentioned a fitting vocation for me, a Death Doula, I was drawn to her words, everything clicked into place. I knew I had found my calling,
I began my journey into Death doula-ship, through recommendations to Life options- by Denise Love, I had a very knowledgeable and compassionate teacher Barb Ferguson (on the right in the picture, handing me my qualifications).
Today, I companion individuals and families through the dying process, offering emotional spiritual, and practical support rooted in compassion, dignity and presence. whether I am sitting quietly at a bedside, creating meaningful rituals, supporting difficult conversations, or simply holding space, my intention is always the same, to ensure no one feels alone.
I believe dying deserves the same love, care. and reverence as living. In a culture that often turns away from conversations about death. I gently walk towards them, helping people prepare with courage, clarity and peace.
At Hand to Heart Healing my mission is to soften the journey for those who are dying, and those who will continue living with love and loss. Every person’s story is unique, and it is a privilege to walk alongside them with an open heart, let’s remove the stigma about talking about death and dying and help to be proactive in your end-of-life care.
